This page belongs to The Ashby Files, the series by Martha Quinlan. It keeps as little as it can.

The answer check

When you check a name, the site adds one to a count of checks, and one to the count of yes, no, or not found, for that day. When the answer is no, it also counts the register name you typed, so we can see which names readers reach most often: that tells us when a clue reads two ways. Nothing else you type is kept, and the name that gets a yes is never written down.

When you write to me

Your email address and your message are sent by email to the author, through the email service of the company that hosts this site. They are not stored on this site. They are used to answer you, and they are not added to any list, sold, or shared.

The Ashby Files list

If you sign up on this site, your first name and your email go into a mailing list called The Ashby Files, run on AWeber, the service that sends the emails. The sign-up form asks for your first name and your email address, and nothing more: no last name, no Amazon order number. I also record which of the two forms you used, the one on this page or the one after the answer check. AWeber and its service providers process your name and address to run the list, as described in AWeber’s privacy policy. What you receive: Case File No. 0 right away, then seven short emails over your first 30 days with one-minute cases, playing tips, an optional request for feedback, and news of the next Ashby book; after that, about one email a month. I do not sell or rent your name or your address. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link at the bottom of every email.

Cookies, other servers, internet addresses

This site sets no cookies and loads nothing from other servers: the fonts and the files come from here. It does not keep your internet address. The company that hosts the site keeps its usual technical logs, as every web host does; this site does not use them to follow anyone.

Do Not Track

The site does not track visitors, so a Do Not Track signal changes nothing here.

Children

This site is for the readers of the book. It is not directed to children under 13, and does not knowingly collect their information.
